Dear friends,
Shavua tov/happy Sunday!
Today is Literary Modiin’s November event - at 20:00 Israel time / 1 pm Eastern / 12 pm Central etc. Register here for the Zoom.
We'll be hearing about three very different books!
Michael Frank’s One Hundred Saturdays: Stella Levi and the Search for a Lost World, chronicles the remarkable story of ninety-nine-year-old Stella Levi through the author’s conversations with her, bringing to life the vibrant world of Jewish Rhodes, the deportation to Auschwitz that extinguished ninety percent of Stella’s community, and her resilience and wisdom.
Alina Adam’s new novel, My Mother's Secret: A Novel of the Jewish Autonomous Region, introduces readers to Birobidzhan, an independent Jewish state established on the border between Russia and China almost twenty years before the modern state of Israel.
Nancy Ludmerer’s Collateral Damage: 48 Stories is a prize-winning collection that includes a wide cast of characters, including a student entering middle school, a Holocaust survivor, and a wineglass. Stories which are "at times hilarious, at other times heartbreaking” (Alice Kaltman) and "stay with you because they have so much heart" (Pamela Painter).
Hope to see you there! Here's the link to register again: https://bit.ly/3EDhpJI
